SCULPTURAL NON-FUNCTIONAL CERAMICS

I have been making and experimenting with clay for the last 15 years, and recently completed 5 years of City and Guilds Ceramics, Parts 1 and 2 (Diploma) at Tonbridge Adult Education Centre in Kent. I moved to Norfolk last June and have set up a studio at home, specialising in sculptural non-functional ceramics, particularly large wall hung pieces which can be hung internally or externally. I enjoy Raku firing using Purple and Copper lustre’s and am presently experimenting with firing full bellied surface decorated pots.

My inspiration has always come primarily from a love of naïve art. Since moving to Norfolk I have become more inspired by my surroundings, and the shapes that suddenly seem to appear on the horizon at dusk, hidden until the contrast of the red and purple sky and black silhouettes show themselves to me.

I am happy to accept commissions for items ranging from a special gift to large mural wall pieces.

Elements of my work are available in After the Rain, Portree, Isle of Skye, The Harleston Gallery’, Harleston, Norfolk, The King of Hearts’, Norwich, Norfolk and periodically in ‘The Crooked House’, Lavenham, Suffolk.
