Sally Grafton

I have always enjoyed making and designing functional items. I completed a Degree in 3D Design at the Central School of Art, specialising in Jewellery. I have worked as a jeweller, and was involved in the setting up of a local shop called Scarab. I then taught Jewellery making at Tonbridge Adult Education Centre for a couple of years. Teacher training followed from this and I now work as an Art teacher at a local school.

The change from making Jewellery to making Pots has allowed me work on a larger scale and with colours and decoration. I have just finished a City & Guilds Ceramics course, part time, for 5 years, under the excellent tutorage of Brigitt Head. I was able to follow my fascination for making thrown, functional ware that is decorated with brushwork and brightly coloured slips.
